I am deeply passionate about catalyzing results in the lives of leaders and entrepreneurs. Prior to making the move to coaching, I developed my approach to leadership over a 15 year corporate career. I began in an entry level sales position and rapidly excelled through a series of achievements and promotions to become the only female Director in the Owned Store Division at Cantel Wireless, leading sales and operations. My basic leadership philosophy shaped during this time became the cornerstone of my success for years to come: Meet people exactly where they are in life, and breakthroughs become possible.
At the age of 36, another promotion placed me at a crossroads. After reflecting, I realized that what I loved about my job was coaching and directing my team and other leaders to produce results while staying true to themselves. I declined the promotion, left the company and began my own business dedicated to leadership development.
For the past 20 years, I have worked primarily with entrepreneurs, many of whom had reached a plateau in their success, typically because they were stretched beyond their personal limits. With my leadership coaching, they have discovered ways to optimize their impact, reorganize their personal involvement and create a sustainable approach that supports their business while allowing them to maintain a healthy work life balance.
“Although her style is direct and no-nonsense, Ruth speaks the truth with kindness and respect in a way that always hits the mark. She has a unique ability to pinpoint her client’s talents and blind spots, in order to create a plan of action to achieve the desired outcomes.” – Client
Today, I strive to embody and share with others this unique way of leading, which I refer to as Intentional Self Leadership. My aim: to help leaders consistently create ‘alert stillness’, and to operate from a place of peace and ease in the face of challenge and conflict.
I graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Physical Education degree, specializing in sports coaching, where I attended on a hockey scholarship playing for the national level UBC Women’s Ice Hockey Team. I have also participated in international paddling competitions, and coached numerous sports and teams. My most memorable experience was being a volunteer coach for the dragon boat team “Abreast in A Boat” (for breast cancer survivors). One of my favourite things to do is to go walking with my dog Loosey.
Why work with Ruth?
- You feel like you’re working so hard and not getting the results you want.
- You are feeling a bit stuck and not sure where to go from here.
- You don’t have the impact you really want when you manage people, or get in front of a crowd.
- You’re ready to take your leadership skills to the next level and see what your potential really is.
