Utilize language to support your vision in the world
An email came to me the other day that really got my attention:
‘Watch your thoughts; they become words.
Watch your words: they become actions.
Watch your actions; they become habits.
Watch your habits; they become character.
Watch your character; it becomes your destiny’.
Watch your words: they become actions.
Watch your actions; they become habits.
Watch your habits; they become character.
Watch your character; it becomes your destiny’.
This got me to thinking about how essential it is to consider our use of language (not just simply the use of foul words), but the impact that language has on our integrity. There are 3 words I know that could be eliminated from the English language: always, never and should. The use of these 3 words immediately lines us up to go against our own integrity. Line yourself up for success; utilize the English language to support your vision in the world.

Ah and the discipline is in catching those darn thoughts and then interupting and replacing them with something that is in alignment with our essential selves. Thanks for the reminder!

Great quote from your email. I was once told to post a sign “No Shoulds in this House”. I have always thought of this and try to do everthing because I want to not because I should. It is a tough call in our guilt based society.
