‘ learning to navigate time to your own advantage’
When I hear people speak of ‘time management’ it makes me smile. Time marches along just fine without your intervention. Time is the only commodity that we all get exactly the same amount of in a day. You cannot control time, but you can learn to self-manage. Better time management skills can improve how you think about time; improve your awareness of how you use time, ultimately allowing you to be better positioned for peak performance.
9 Proven Factors to Managing YOUR time:
  1. Create a way of navigating YOUR time that is congruent with who You are, and use Your natural tendencies to YOUR advantage (ie) if you are a morning person perform your most challenging tasks while you are ‘on’
  2. Plan ahead, know what you have committed to
  3. Under-promise and over-deliver on your commitments
  4. Anticipate the unexpected, leave space in your time planning to contend with the ‘extenuating’ circumstances
  5. If it is worth doing, do it ‘right’ the first time
  6. Have a ‘to-do list’ and put your least desirable tasks at the top of it
  7. Identify time-robbers and remove those that are not in keeping with YOUR goals
  8. Delegate responsibilities whenever possible
  9. Learn to say ‘no’ well before you are ready to explode
